The Invitation

It doesn't interest me what you do for a livingI want to know what you ache for

and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's

longing

我不关心你以何为生计

只想知道是什么让你的内心焦灼

你是否有敢于追随心之向往

It doesn't interest me how old you are

I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool

for love, for your dream

for the adventure of being alive

我不关心你的年龄

只想知道你会不会像傻瓜一样奋不顾身为了爱，为了理想，为了活着所必须经历的种种冒险

It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon

I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow

If you have been opened by life's betrayals or have

become shriveled and closed from fear of further pain

我不关心是什么磨圆了你的棱角

只想知道你可曾发自内心地感到悲伤

遭遇了生活的背叛，你是变得豁达还是为了免受更多的伤害而紧闭心扉

I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your

own without moving to hide it or fade it, or fix it

我关心的是，面对各自的痛苦你是去承受，而不去掩饰或试图挥去

I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own

If you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you

to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us

to be careful, to be realistic, to remember thelimitations of being human

我关心的是，面对各自的喜悦

你能安然享受你是否能放纵地舞蹈，享受从头到脚的狂喜

把那些‘要小心、要现实、要记住自己的局限’这样的告诫抛在一边

It doesn't interest me if the story you are telling me is true

I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself

If you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul

If you can be faithless and therefore trust worthy

我不关心你的故事是否真实

只想知道，你是否能无愧于本心

哪怕让别人失望不出卖自己的灵魂

哪怕承受指责只想知道，你是否忠心耿耿，从而值得信赖

I want to know if you can see beauty even when it's not pretty every day

and if you can source your own life from its presence

我关心的是，你是否能从平凡事物中发现美并从中汲取生命的灵感

I want to know if you can live with failure, yours and mine

and still stand on the edge of the lake and

shout to the silver of the full moon, "Yes"

我关心的是，你能否承受失败的打击，不论你的还是我的

就算在低谷，仍能站在湖畔对月色大喊“真美”

It doesn't interest me to know where you live or how much money you have

I want to know if you can get up after the night of

grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone and do what needs to be

done to feed the children

我不关心你身处何方，拥有多少财富

只想知道，在经历或彻骨的悲伤、绝望、精疲力竭之后

你还能否振作，尽应尽的责任

It doesn't interest me who you know or how you

came to be here

I want to know if you will stand in the center of the

fire with me and not shrink back

我不关心你是谁，是如何来到我面前

只想知道，你是否会同我在一起站在烈焰的中心，毫无畏惧

It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom you have studied

I want to know what sustains you, from the inside,

when all else falls away

我不关心你在哪里，和谁一起受到了什么样的教育

只想知道，当一切都背弃你的时候

是什么样的力量从内心支撑着你

I want to know if you can be alone with yourself

and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments

我关心的是你是否能直面孤独

即使在空虚寂寞的时候，仍能去结交真心的朋友
